Phishing and Spam

I often receive email phishing attempts (Wikipedia definition of Phishing) and here are a few things to watch out for:

Bad Spelling (speelliing)

It came from someone you don’t know (relative in Nigeria or the African Union are most common) offering funds that are secret and it mustn’t be known that they are leaving that country

Asking for personal information

    Social Security Number
    Drivers License Number
    Bank Account Number
    Marital Status
    Mother’s Maiden Name

It’s in the wrong language

One even asked for a photo copy of my Driver’s License or Passport (People actually fall for this?)

This is a very short list, but if you don’t trust it you are better off deleting it. If it sounds too good to be true (unfortunately) it is too good to be true.
